Indian American Kush Desai Appointed White House Deputy Press Secretary

President Donald Trump has appointed former journalist Kush Desai as the deputy press secretary, the White House announced this week. The Indian American will work under the White House Office of Communications, which will be overseen by Deputy White House Chief of Staff and Cabinet Secretary Taylor Budowich.
Desai is currently the Deputy Battleground States and Pennsylvania Communications Director at the Republican National Committee, a role he was appointed to last year, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously served as deputy communications director for the 2024 Republican National Convention and communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
He worked as a reporter for The Daily Caller from July 2017 to March 2018. In April 2018, he joined the Republican National Committee as a research analyst, a role he held until February 2019, his LinkedIn profile says. In a year he was named Director of Vetting, and 2021, he was appointed Iowa communications director, and in December 2022, he took on the role of communications director for the Republican Party of Iowa.
