Talking Movies: EnActe Arts Launches Virtual ‘Actors on Acting’ Series Spotlighting South Asian Performers
- The new series is intended to create an ongoing space for collaboration and mentorship, particularly for emerging artists seeking access to industry networks.
EnActe Arts has announced the launch of a new virtual roundtable series, “Actors on Acting,” aimed at spotlighting South Asian and Middle Eastern voices in film, television and theater.
The inaugural session, scheduled for April 22 at 6:30 p.m. PT on Zoom, will bring together a panel of actors whose work spans major network television, streaming platforms and stage productions. The initiative is part of the organization’s EnActe Arts Film Lab, which focuses on mentorship and professional development in storytelling.
Modeled on industry roundtables popularized by outlets such as Variety, the discussion is designed as an interactive forum rather than a traditional panel, organizers said in a press release.
The first session will feature Sonal Shah, known for her role on the television comedy Scrubs; Pej Vahdat, who appeared in Bones and is set to feature in an upcoming installment of Marvel’s Daredevil; Sunkrish Bala, whose credits include The Walking Dead and Castle; and Priyanka Shetty, an award-winning playwright and performer recognized for her solo work.
“Actors on Acting” Circle is part of a broader effort to build a global creative ecosystem centered on diverse narratives.
The conversation will be moderated by Arati Misro, program director of the Film Lab, and will focus on what organizers describe as the “technical agility” required to navigate careers across theater, independent film and high-budget television.
According to the press release, the session will explore how actors adapt to shifting industry demands, particularly as global audiences seek culturally specific narratives with broad appeal. The discussion is expected to address themes of career reinvention, craft discipline and authenticity in performance.
EnActe Arts said the new series is intended to create an ongoing space for collaboration and mentorship, particularly for emerging artists seeking access to industry networks.
Founded as a platform for South Asian storytelling, EnActe Arts has expanded its programming in recent years to include film labs, workshops and public events aimed at bridging gaps between talent and opportunity. Organizers said the “Actors on Acting” Circle is part of a broader effort to build a global creative ecosystem centered on diverse narratives.
Registration for the event is available through the organization’s website, and the session will be conducted live via Zoom, with details accessible to attendees upon sign-up.
