Emmy Award Winner Archie Panjabi Cast in Third Season of TNT’s ‘Snowpiercer’

  • She plays Asha, the series’ newest character who is a “tough survivor of the hell of the big freeze — damaged, wild and always surprising.”

Emmy Award-winning British actress Archie Panjabi will be seen in the third season of TNT’s “Snowpiercer.” The first trailer of Season 3 introduces Panjabi as Asha, the series’ newest character. “I come from New Eden,” she says before it flashes to images of a green, snow-free oasis.

Executive producer and director Christoph Schrewe told media outlets that Asha is a “tough survivor of the hell of the big freeze — damaged, wild and always surprising.” He is “truly impressed” by what Panjabi brought to the show, he added.

The series, which has been renewed for a fourth season, also sees the return of the ensemble cast including Alison Wright as Ruth, Roberto Urbina as Javier, Rowan Blanchard as Alexandra, Katie McGuinness as Josie, according to etonline.com.

The third season, which premieres on Jan. 24, 2022, will follow Layton (Daveed Diggs), Ruth (Alison Wright) and more as they seek out New Eden to save themselves from a warming Earth. At the end of season two, Layton and Ruth, who were banished to Big Alice’s compost car, plotted to take back Snowpiercer. With the help of Javier (Roberto Urbina) and Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard), Layton and Ruth made it back to Snowpiercer and rallied with their supporters. Josie (Katie McGuiness) destroyed the Aquarium car, separating Snowpiercer’s head from the remaining 1,023 cars.

Season three picks up with Layton (Diggs) and his inner circle commanding a small 10 car “pirate train” in search of Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) and a possible warm location to restart civilization; while back on Snowpiercer, Mr. Wilford (Sean Bean) is consolidating power, awaiting Layton’s return.
