Indian American Protester Devina Singh Charged with Spitting in Face of New York Cop

  • Singh was among 60 protestors who were arrested during the “Count the Vote” protests in the city.

Twenty-four-year-old Devina Singh was charged by NYPD for allegedly spitting at a sergeant’s face during a “Count the Vote” protest in Manhattan Nov. 5, the New York Post reported.

The Post, of course, characteristically called her a “cop-hating” demonstrator. The video posted on the Murdoch-owned newspaper’s website does show a mask-less Singh spitting at the policeman. Singh, reportedly claimed that the police “hit us with their bikes repeatedly … and started attacking people.”

A Fox News report, however, said the “video of the confrontation taken by The Post shows the uniformed sergeant standing in front of Singh, while she screams “F–k you, fascist!,” rears back, and hocks a loogie in his face.”

“Singh, who lives in tiny Schwenksville, Pennsylvania, was charged with obstruction of governmental administration, violation of local law and harassment, the Post report said.

Singh was also charged with resisting arrest and unlawful assembly during protests in the city on two different occasions, according to the police.

Meanwhile, Fox News website reported, Singh has been been released from court following her arrest “during a tumultuous night of anti-cop demonstrations by left-wing radicals chanting, ‘Burn the precinct to the ground!’”
