Indian American Amrapali ‘Ami’ Gan Named CEO of Content-sharing Platform OnlyFans

  • Most recently the company’s chief marketing and communications officer, she replaces Tim Stokely, who founded and built the London-based media company used by porn stars, musicians and fitness aficionados.

Indian American Amrapali “Ami” Gan has been appointed chief executive officer of content-sharing platform OnlyFans. She replaces Tim Stokely, “who founded and built the London-based media company into a billion-dollar enterprise used by porn stars, musicians and fitness aficionados to share content with their most ardent admirers,” the company said in a press release.

Gan, most recently the chief marketing and communications officer for OnlyFans, will now “assume the day-to-day leadership” of the company from Stokely, who is leaving to “pursue new endeavors,” the company said. Stokely will remain on as an adviser to assist with the leadership transition.

The Mumbai-born Gan has spent most of her life in California, where she currently lives. She will reportedly operate from the company’s offices in Los Angeles.

“I am proud to assume this role. I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximize control over, and monetize their content,” Gan said in a statement. “I will be leading an exceptionally talented team at OnlyFans that is delivering a unique experience for our creators and fans. By blending state-of-the-art technology with creative capital, we are committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

Before joining OnlyFans in 2020, she was for a year the vice president of Marketing & Publicity with Cannabis Cafe, the first cannabis restaurant in the U.S.

Bloomberg reports that Gan “must now chart a course for the future of a company that has millions of users and creators but has wrestled with its reputation as a purveyor of pornography and sex work.”

She told the news outlet that “the closely held company will increase its investment in its free streaming app, OFTV, and introduce new tools for creators.” She added that the company’s “priority is to continue being committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

Prior to joining OnlyFans in 2020, she was for a year the vice president of Marketing & Publicity with Cannabis Cafe, the first cannabis restaurant in the U.S. She also worked as the director of communications at Lowell Herb Co. Before that, she worked with Red Bull Media House as its brand activation and communications manager. Before that, she worked in marketing roles at several startups.
