5 Men of Indian Origin Arrested and Charged With Murder of 35-year-old Man From India
- The New Yorker and four others from Indiana who were involved in the alleged killing of Kuldeep Kumar worked together.
A New York man of Indian origin was arrested and charged last week for the murder of India native Kuldeep Kumar, whose body was discovered last month in New Jersey’s Ocean County. Sandeep Kumar, 34, of South Ozone Park, is the fifth man to be arrested and charged with the killing on the Indian man. He is being held at the Ocean County Jail, pending a detention hearing.
Sandeep Kumar carried out the murder along with Sourav Kumar, 23, Guarav Singh, 27, Nirmal Singh, 30, and Gurdeep Singh, 22. All four were arrested in Indiana and are now pending extradition to New Jersey, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Sandeep Kumar allegedly worked with the four men from Indiana.
Kuldeep Kumar, 34, was found on Dec. 14 in the Greenwood Wildlife Management Area in Manchester Township. “His body was lying in an advanced state of decomposition, with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest,” Asbury Park Press reported. His family in New York had reported him missing since Oct. 26. But it was almost two months before someone discovered his body and informed the prosecutor’s Major Crimes Unit, according to the prosecutor’s office.
A day after Kuldeep Kumar’s body was found, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office performed a post-mortem examination him, and concluded that” the cause of the individual’s death was multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, and the manner of death to be homicide,” the prosecutor’s office said.
While the victim’s nationality was revealed as Indian, no information has been provided about the citizenship of those arrested, or the motivation for the alleged murder.
