Diwali Dance Fest: Disney World Resort to Come Alive With Sights and Sounds of the Festival of Lights

  • Hosted by Jashn Productions, events include an official parade and a dance showcase featuring South Asian dance schools from across North America.

There’s no denying that Diwali has gone mainstream in America. Not only does the Festival of Lights represent India’s rich culture and heritage, but it also showcases the Indian American community in the American landscape.

From the White House to the iconic Times Square, the massive Diwali Mela in Edison, New Jersey, to the Diwali Dusshera fair in Sugar Land, Texas, Indian Americans are coming out in large numbers to celebrate. The festival has gained popularity commercially as well. More and more major brands are recognizing the festival by running ad campaigns and stocking products related to the holiday.

This year, even Disney World is getting into the act. This year, Jashn Productions, which aims to provide exposure and opportunities to South Asian performing artists, will host the first-ever Diwali Dance Fest at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

Organizers say the event, to be held over the weekend of Oct. 26-29 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and EPCOT, “promises to be a magical event filled with vibrant colors, stunning costumes, and incredible performances by dancers from around North America.” Events include an official parade at Disney Springs, featuring South Asian dance schools from across North America, and a VIP party at EPCOT.
