An Indian American man involved in a two-car collision in Indiana has died. Sukhwinder Singh, 42, of Indianapolis, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Indianapolis on Oct. 13, a day after his car crashed into another vehicle in rural Greenwood, local media reported. Singh was the sole occupant of his vehicle. He is survived by his wife, a 15-year-old son, and a 10-year-old daughter, according to the Press Trust of India.

Johnson County police told local media that Singh’s Honda Accord “swerved into the opposite lane,” and crashed into a Cadillac Escalade. When deputies and fire personnel arrived at the accident scene, they located three injured people “who were extricated and transported to Indianapolis hospitals with serious injuries,” the Daily Journal reported, citing a statement from Chief Deputy Andrew Barnhart.

Singh was taken to the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis. The passengers in the  Cadillac — identified as a 52-year-old Indianapolis man, and his 52-year-old female passenger — were transported to the Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. They are in stable condition, said the Daily Journal report.

According to a sheriff’s office report, the diver of the Cadillac told police that “they saw Singh driving north on Five Points Road when he lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the southbound lane where they were at,” the Daily Journal said. Singh’s car hit them head-on.” The speedometer on Singh’s vehicle was stuck at about 65 mph,” the report said, according to the Daily Journal. The report also added that the Police investigation matched up with what the other driver said: “as to the chain of events and the cause of the accident.”
