An Indian American man was fatally shot in a car he borrowed from a friend in Queens, New York, this past weekend. Satnam Singh, 31, was behind the wheel of a black Jeep Wrangler Sahara parked a few steps away from his home in South Ozone Park on June 25 afternoon, when an unidentified gunman shot, the New York Daily News reported, citing the police.

Singh, who was struck in the chest and neck was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, the Daily News report said. He died a short time later.

Singh had borrowed the Jeep from a friend earlier to pick someone up.

Neighbors told the Daily News that while the police said the gunman approached Singh on foot, the shots came from a silver-colored sedan with a black trunk as it passed the Jeep.

Joan Cappellini told the paper that Singh was walking up 129th St. going to the car when the other car made “a U-turn, came back” and the driver began shooting. She said the shooting was caught on her home’s security cameras, which NYPD cops are reviewing. “It was just another crazy day in South Ozone Park.”
