Indian American Man Arrested For Allegedly Murdering Girlfriend in Mall Garage in California
- Simranjit Singh, who shot and killed the 34-year-old woman, has been booked in Placer County Jail for homicide.
A 29-year-old Indian American man has been arrested and charged with murder after he allegedly shot at and killed his girlfriend in a parking garage in California last week. Simranjit Singh, who arrived with the 34-year-old woman at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville on Aug. 19, shot and killed her on the third floor of the parking garage and ran away from the scene, local media reported. He left the gun in the garage, Roseville Police Department said in a Facebook post. Neither Singh nor the woman are from Roseville.
With the help of eyewitnesses and the mall’s surveillance video, police apprehended Singh near a store across the street from the mall, SFGate quoted Lt. Chris Ciampa, spokesperson of the Roseville Police Department as saying.
Immediately after the shooting, Singh went shopping and allegedly bought a shirt with cash, “changed into it, put the old shirt in a shopping bag and asked to leave the store. It was in lockdown due to the active shooter situation,” the report said. Singh has been booked in Placer County Jail for homicide.
