Indian American Doctor Charged With Molesting Patent at Urgent Care in New York
- These charges against Dr. Amir Sitafalwalla of Manhasset come after he was released without bail last year on similar charges connected to an incident at the same facility.
A 72-year-old Indian American doctor has been charged with molesting a patient at an urgent care in Queens, New York, after being released in a similar case last year. Dr. Amir Sitafalwalla of Manhasset was arrested Sept. 9 and charged with forcible touching and sexually abuse in connection with a recent incident involving patient at the ModernMD Urgent Care in Woodhaven, news reports said, citing the NYPD.
The alleged abuse came after Sitafalwalla was âreleased without bail in March 2023 on similar charges connected to an incident at the same urgent care facility in January of that year,â Daily News reported. In both cases, he is accused of groping a patientâs privates after making inappropriate comments about their penises.
When the patient, a 21-year-old male, showed up for an appointment, Sitafalwalla allegedly told to drop his pants, and then allegedly rubbed the victimâs inner thigh and groin, according to the Daily News. âYou have a beautiful penis,â the doctor allegedly said. âHow big is your penis when itâs erect,â the publication said, citing the criminal complaint. The also curled his finger into a curve and told the victim, âYour penis is straight, not curved like mine.â He was released after his $10,000 bail was paid in the new case.
Sitafalwalla was first arrested in March 2023, and was charged with sex abuse for an incident two months earlier, on Jan. 19, at Modern MD Urgent Care. He was released without bail. The victim showed up for a COVID-19 test and was told to lie down and unbuckle his pants, at which point the doctor allegedly grabbed the victimâs penis, according to a criminal complaint. âYou have a nice penis,â the complaint quotes Sitafalwalla as allegedly saying. âGood length. I wish mine was like yours. Mine is not as thick.â When the victim sat up he complied with the doctorâs request to pull down his mask, with the doctor allegedly grabbing his face and kissing him, according to Daily News.
Sitafalwalla is due back in court on Nov. 13 for both cases.
Meanwhile, his lawyer Kyle Watters told the Daily News that Sitafalwalla âdenies the allegations â and he looks forward to his day in court,â adding thatâs client didnât do it.
