Sacramento Kings Owner Vivek Ranadivé’s Daughter Anjali Steps Down as General Manager of the Stockton Kings

Anjali Ranadivé, the daughter of Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé, is stepping down as the general manager of the Stockton Kings, the team announced Jan. 19. The young Indian American will be pursuing a Ph.D. and focusing on her nonprofit Jaws and Paws,  a wolf-dog sanctuary and wolf conservation organization run by women.

“We are grateful to Anjali for her contributions to the Stockton Kings over the past two seasons,” said Kings General Manager Monte McNair. “Under her leadership the team has excelled on the court and is set for success in the future.” Assistant general manager Gabriel Harris will be taking over day-to-day responsibilities, the announcement added.

Ranadivé, who was promoted from assistant general manager to general manager in June 2023, thanked McNair, Stockton Kings Head Coach Lindsey Harding and previous Stockton Kings GM, Paul Johnson. “I would also like to thank our loyal fans and everyone at the Kings organization for their support,” she added. The Sacramento Bee noted that in her only full season as general manager, “the Kings went 25-7, the best record in the league, before losing to Sioux Falls in the semifinals of the G League playoffs.”

Before moving to the basketball arena, the San Diego-born Ranadivé made her mark in the music industry. Known as Anjali World, she began her career as a singer and songwriter and working with stars like Tyga and Sage the Gemini.  She began her career in music at a young age, playing piano and writing songs. She was discovered by music mogul L.A. Reid and signed to his record label, Island Def Jam. Her music is a fusion of pop, hip-hop, and R&B, with influences from her Indian heritage. She has released several singles and an EP, including “We Turn Up” and “Where Have You Been”. Her music has been featured on popular TV shows such as “Dancing with the Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”

She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2013, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology with a focus in conservation. A few years later, she established Jaws & Paws, a wolf sanctuary and animal rescue group run by women. As a vegan activist and environmentalist, she interned and volunteered at various wildlife rescues, animal shelters, and notable organizations such as the Monterey Bay Aquarium, where she received the Paul Walker Ocean Leadership Award in 2015 for her accomplishments in shark conservation.
