Coinbase Chief Product Officer Surojit Chatterjee to Step Down Amid Company Restructuring
- The Indian American is expected to retain his advisory role to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong until at least February 3, 2023.
Coinbase Chief Product Officer Surojit Chatterjee is stepping down from his position, effective Nov. 30. The move comes amid the company’s restructuring of its product, engineering and design teams, according to a recent company filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Chatterjee’s resignation was “mutually agreed,” upon, the SEC filing said. The Indian American is expected to retain his advisory role to Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong until at least February 3, 2023, the SEC filing added.
Chatterjee announced his plans to leave his post in a LinkedIn post. “Three years of building, three years of growth, three years of the most exciting roller coaster I could imagine — but now it’s time to get off the ride and catch my breath,” he wrote. “I’m looking forward to continuing to contribute in my role as an advisor to Brian and the exec team and to continuing the hard but critical work of creating more economic freedom and building a better internet for everyone,” he added.
Chatterjee joined Coinbase in early 2020 after serving as a vice president of product management for Google Shopping. He was initially hired for “a massive $646 million compensation package,” and was “one of only a handful of direct reports” to Armstrong, as reported by Bloomberg.
