MI New York will meet Seattle Orcas at the Major League Cricket at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas, tomorrow (July 30). MI defeated the Texas Super Kings by six wickets yesterday (July 28) to reach the summit clash.

The home team was defeated a day earlier as well. “Quinton de Kock of the Seattle Orcas “played a magnificent innings of 88 runs (not out) from 50 balls as his team defeated Texas Super Kings by nine wickets,” MLC said.

During the July 28 match, MI New York bowled out the Super Kings for 158 before chasing their target down in 19 overs. Shayan Jahangir struck back-to-back boundaries off Rusty Theron’s bowling in the fourth over. Although Slade van Staden was dismissed in the same over “to reduce MI New York to 23/1,” it “didn’t deter Jahangir as he smashed Gerald Coetzee for two boundaries and a six in the fifth over.”

MI New York won the toss and put the Texas Super Kings into bat. Trent Boult got MI New York “off to a terrific start when he dismissed Captain Faf du Plessis for 6 runs off 9 balls in the third over,” MLC said. “Mitchell Santner and Cody Chetty were also sent packing in quick succession as the Super Kings found themselves in deep trouble at 34/3.”

However, Devon Conway and Milind Kumar rebuilt the Super Kings’ innings. “The duo put up a partnership of 77 runs from 60 balls before Rashid Khan dismissed Milind Kumar for 37 runs off 34 balls in the 16th over,” MLC said. Conway was dismayed soon after.

Rusty Theron got the Super Kings off to a great start with the ball as he dismissed Nauman Anwar for 2 runs off 6 balls in the second over. However, Quinton de Kock brought the momentum towards the Seattle Orcas’ side with consecutive boundaries off Daniel Sams’ bowling in the next over.

Texas Super Kings won the toss and chose to bat first. Captain Faf du Plessis couldn’t get his innings going as he fell to Imad Wasim for 5 runs off 8 balls in the third over. Thereafter, the Super Kings kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were in deep trouble at 66/5 in the twelfth over.

“When the Super Kings were reeling at 92/6, Daniel Sams and Calvin Savage struck two boundaries and two sixes in the last few overs to help the Super Kings post a fighting total in their 20 overs,” MLC said.
