Indian American Couple in New Jersey Found Dead in Apparent Murder Suicide

A New Jersey couple was found dead in their North Arlington apartment in an apparent murder suicide. Local news reports say the husband, 33, stabbed and sliced his 31-year-old wife in the abdomen as she unsuccessfully tried to fight him off in their living room. A large knife was reported recovered from the scene at the Riverview Gardens apartment. The Press Trust of India identified the couple as Balaji Bharat Rudrawar and  Arati Rudrawar,  who was reportedly pregnant. The murder suicide took place in front of the coupe’s 3-year-old child who’s currently with a family friend, as per the PTI report.

The police were alerted to the murder suicide after a neighbor called seeking a welfare check at 5:40 p.m. on April 7, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella told local media. Musella said he was awaiting a determination by the Medical Examiner’s Office before officially calling it a murder-suicide.

Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of Detectives Robert Anzilotti said his investigators were waiting for the Medical Examiner to determine the cause and circumstances of the death, but confirmed both victims had been stabbed.
