Indian American Student Bianca Shah Represents Maryland in Roll Call Vote at the Democratic Convention
Indian American student Bianca Shah and Baltimore City Council President Brandon Scott represented Maryland in the roll call vote at the Democratic National Convention, on Aug. 18. Joe Biden was officially nominated as the Democratic nominee for president at the virtual convention.
Shah, 20, of Rockville, Maryland, is a student at the University of Michigan, and a youth outreach leader for South Asians for Biden, a national grassroots organization dedicated to engaging, educating, and mobilizing the South Asian community to elect Joe Biden.
Shah is a first-time delegate at the DNC, along with her father, Devang Shah. Prior to the convention, he told Politico that he will watch the proceedings with his daughter. The Shahs were planning on attending “some of the virtual events hosted by the Maryland state party, such as Zoom speed networking, online watch parties, a trivia night and even a talent show,” Politico said. Devang Shah attended the 2016 Democratic convention as a guest.
