Hoboken, New Jersey Mayor Ravi Bhalla joins the Black Lives Matter protests in his town on June 5. Bhalla wrote on his Facebook page that his family decided to join the protests, “because they believe it’s not the time to be bystanders but to pledge commitment to the cause of racial justice.” He lauded both residents and visitors to his town for conducting peaceful demonstrations in the fight for racial justice and equality. “Together, we showed that a non-violent event can help lead the movement to change the way society treats people of color, he wrote. “I listened, learned, and remain committed to acting.”
