Indian American Father Killed in Car Crash in Central New Jersey, Two Kids Critically Injured

  • Ramsudha Madabushi, 57, of South Brunswick, who was in the front passenger seat, died on spot, while his 21-year-old son, who was driving the Nissan, and 16-year-old daughter, are in ICU.

An Indian American father of two from South Brunswick, New Jersey, was killed, and his two kids were critically injured, in a crash with a dump truck, last week. Ramsudha Madabushi, 57, of the Dayton section of the township, who was in the front passenger seat of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His 21-year-old son, who was driving the Nissan, and 16-year-old daughter were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where they were in intensive care.

According to a GoFundMe page, the son is “still unconscious in the ICU undergoing treatment for brain injury at this time.”

The fundraising page was started by Madabushi’s brother-in-law Prabhu Kalyanasundaram on behalf of his sister Srilakshmi Kalyanasundaram to pay hospital bills and support the needs of the children through their recovery. “The hospital bills have started piling up as she is battling through this tough time,” Kalyanasundaram says. “We all know that it is going to be a long haul before he stabilizes not only physically but also emotionally. Life will not be the same for my sister’s family,” he adds. “We won’t be able to replace what she has lost, but the least we can do is to reduce her financial burden.”

News reports, citing the police said that on Aug. 2 around 12:26 p.m., Madabushi’s son, who was driving the car, “apparently made an improper left turn from the far-right eastbound lane, crossing over five lanes of travel before being struck by the dump truck in the westbound lanes.” The impact of the crash caused the dump truck to go onto the front lawn of a nearby business. The truck was driven by a 42-year-old Milltown man.
