Two Indian American Motel Owners Charged With Hiding Wanted Criminals in Hideout Room 

Two Indian American motel owners in Tennessee were arrested for hiding fugitives in the building, the Monteagle Police Department announced in a Facebook post. Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel, who own the Super 8 and Mountain Inn in Monteagle, “had been advised multiple times about the wanted suspects and had lied to officers about their residence at the hotel,” said the Dec. 12 post by the Monteagle Police Department. 

The owners of a motel in Tennessee were arrested Tuesday after authorities say the pair hid Dakshaben Patel and Harshil Patel, who owns the Super 8 and Mountain Inn in Monteagle, allegedly lied to police about the whereabouts of wanted individuals during an investigation on July 18, the said.

Two officers had been conducting surveillance on the rear of the hotel due to “high drug transition” in the area and spotted two individuals on a balcony. “After a foot chase pursued through the parking lot, both officers took both suspects into custody,” the department said. Police later found out that the hotel had a hideout room on the corner of the building where the wanted suspects had been living. The officers identified the individuals as having felony warrants out of Franklin County.
