No Bystanders Helped Him as an Ex-con Attacked Him Multiple Times, Indian American Uber Eats Driver Says

An Indian American UberEats delivery man in New York City was attacked earlier this week by an ex-con as bystanders did nothing to help. Bharatbhai Patel was stabbed on the Lower East Side on Sept. 27, by Sean Cooper, a career criminal described by police as a “super perp,” The New York Post reported. “Nobody helped,” Patel told The Post. “He killed me here, here, here and here,” the 26-year-old told The Post.

He further told daily that the man who stabbed him didn’t say a word, and made no demands for money. “He asked nothing. Not, ‘I need money.’ Nothing.” The incident happened on Allen Street near Rivington Street when Cooper grabbed his e-bike, Patel told The Post. He clung to the bike and was stabbed multiple times, with the attacker then fleeing. He was treated at Bellevue Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Patel, who is married and has a six-year-old son who lives in Queens, told The Post that he was “surprised” by the attack, and recalled feeling pain. “Now it’s better,” he said.

Patel said he saw around three people near him during the 3 am attack who did nothing to help —leaving him to call 911 himself, the report added. He speculated that the people may have been drunk. He also added that there were no police in that area at the time. “All the time police are there,” he added. “But this time, no police.”

Cops later arrested Cooper and charged him with assault in the brutal attack. Law enforcement sources told The Post that Cooper, whose nickname is “Big Coop,” is so well known to police that he’s earned the moniker of “super perp.” He was most recently arrested on Sept. 18 on grand larceny and five petit-larceny charges, police said.
