  • A devoted fan of the “Mission Impossible” franchise, Ravi Khanna and his wife were on a mid-week movie date when the star walked in to address the audience.

Imagine taking a day off to watch your favorite movie franchise and having the star of the series walk into the theater. Makes for a good dream come true, doesn’t it?

The Washington. D.C.-based professional Ravi Khanna was at the seventh edition of the “Mission Impossible” franchise this week when none other than Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie walked into the theater to address the fans. “There was an element of shock, no question,” Khanna, 47, told The Washington Post.  “I didn’t know how I was going to sleep that night.”

The Indian American had a midweek date this Tuesday (July 11) at AMC Georgetown 14 with his wife for a 2:30 p.m. showing of the newly released “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning, Part One.” The couple took the day off work — it was in a long time that the two were watching a movie together, The Post said.

Khanna is a devoted fan of the 27-year-old franchise, and would “always rally” his friends to go see the movies on opening days, he told The Post. It “inspired everything from his haircuts to his wardrobe in his 20s,” he told The Post. “Everything was about being Ethan Hunt, my version of it.”

Khanna told The Post that he and his wife got tickets to the show “about a month in advance. The couple was waiting for the movie to begin, when the actor-director duo walked in, taking the entire theater by surprise. “My wife’s jaw dropped. I was elated,” he told The Post. “I remember squinting to make sure it’s really him. … It’s something I’ll always remember for the rest of my life. I felt like a kid the rest of the day.”
