- The brand ambassador for NBA in India for the 2021-22 season, the actor also showed off his skills on the court.
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh took a break from the film world and hobnobbed with basketball legends and celebrities during a recent NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in Cleveland, Ohio. The event was held to celebrate the NBA’s 75th anniversary. Singh joined comedian Tiffany Haddish, and rappers and recording artists like Machine Gun Kelly, Anuel, Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow and Quavo.
The actor, brand ambassador for NBA in India for the 2021-22 season, showed off his skills on the court. In a September 2021 interview with Variety, Singh said he had loved basketball and the NBA since his childhood. He said he was always fascinated with its influence on popular culture including music, fashion and entertainment. “With the NBA tipping off its 75th season celebrations, there couldn’t have been a better time to join forces with the league and support their efforts to grow basketball in the country.”
Although the “83” star was surrounded by some big names in the game, the NBA got a taste of his celebrity status. His entry on the court was no less than that of a rockstar and the announcer said, “This Bollywood star has over 38.4 million Instagram followers. That’s right, I said over 38 million.”
Fans were seen enjoying his presence on the court. They were continuously cheering for Singh, who in turn acknowledged the love and support he got away from home. Fans were also heard shouting “Apna time aayega,” the popular song from “Gully Boy.”
Singh took to Instagram to describe his experience at the game. He shared with his followers that he was overwhelmed by the love his fans showered him with at the game. “I just had the most incredible experience at the All-star game. But the highlight by far was the love and energy that my fans gave me at the game. I am deeply touched and overwhelmed. Literally brought me to tears by the end of it. I feel the grace of God through you all. Not sure what I have done to deserve this kind of love but I am filled with just pure gratitude.”
