Ahhhhhhh: Frieda Pinto and Husband Cory Tran Welcome a Baby Boy Rumi-Ray

Freida Pinto is a new mom. The actress gave birth to a baby boy — son Rumi-Ray — with her photographer husband Cory Tran. The proud parents took to Instagram to make the announcement. The two also shared identical photos of the newborn on their respective Instagram accounts in honor of Tran’s birthday.

The first picture shows Tran sleeping with newborn Rumi-Ray on his chest, while the second shot captures the new mom and baby snuggling cheek to cheek. “Happy Birthday Dada Cory! I celebrate you my husband, friend and partner in life,” Pinto wrote. “To see you become not just a Dad but Super-Dad makes me so emotional and fills me with joy. It also gives this sleep-deprived Mama a break and you have no idea how much I appreciate that! I am so grateful and in love with how we do life together. Love you madly.”

In October, Pinto had revealed on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that she had secretly tied the knot with Tran during the lockdown. She told the story of her “beautiful proposal” in November 2019, and shared a photo of Tran proposing next to a waterfront sunset. When she asked Pinto about the wedding preparation and how it was going on, she casually mentioned that they were already married. “Oh, excellent. We’re already married!”

Pinto had taken to Instagram to announce her engagement. “It all makes sense now,” she wrote. “Life makes sense, the world makes sense, the past tears and trials make sense, what wise old lovers said about love makes sense, where I am makes sense and where I want to go completely makes sense.”

Sharing the “very romantic story” of their wedding, a visibly pregnant Pinto told the audience that after their engagement, they thought they’d “have this most magical wedding,” not “a big fat Indian wedding,” she warned, but “this most magical wedding.” But when “COVID happened,” she said they realized that they were going to be planning this for the rest of their lives and “probably never doing it.”

So one day they just went to the Honda Center in Anaheim [California] and got married. “Honestly, I have to say if any of you have planned a wedding, you probably know this, I do not want stomach ulcers from planning my own wedding,” she told the audience. “This was perfect! We got married and then we got to go home and take an afternoon nap.”

Earlier in June, the couple disclosed they are expecting a baby. “Baby Tran, coming this Fall,” she wrote on Instagram.

Pinto met Tran through her “The Path,” co-star Aaron Paul, when she was in New York shooting for their TV show, and “enjoying being single.” She recalled how Paul told her how he wanted her in his life “forever,” and so was going to introduce her to his friend. And although she told him she did not want him “playing matchmaker, he went ahead anyway. “But he still did it and turns out I got engaged to Cory, his friend.”

Pinto currently stars in “Intrusion,” on Netflix, about Meera (Pinto), a breast cancer surviving therapist, and her husband Henry (Logan Marshall-Greene), an architect. The two move to a small town to live in a huge, remote home designed by Henry. When their home is burglarized and Henry kills one of the intruders, it leaves Meera traumatized and suspicious that those around her might not be who they seem.
