Police Search for Two Missing Teenage Girls From San Ramon, California

Search is ongoing for two teenage girls missing since March 16 from San Ramon in California’s East Bay. Aaminah “Mina” Khan, 14, and her friend, Marybel “Ruby” Gonzalez, 16, are said to have left their homes voluntarily, according to a brochure issued by Khan’s parents, and circulated on social media. The two are students at Dougherty Valley High School.

“My 14-year-old daughter Mina and her friend Ruby have been missing since 36+ hours,” the poster says. “We are worried sick.” 

Mina is” about 4 feet 11 inches tall, has a medium complexion and wears her hair a little below her shoulders,” the poster says. She is a freshman at Dougherty Valley and lives in the Gale Ranch Bridges community in San Ramon. She was last seen wearing baggy jeans and a hoodie.

Ruby, a sophomore, is 5 foot 3 inches tall and has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing black jeans, a black zip-up sweater and black Converse shoes.

The two were last seen together in the Gale Ranch area, the poster says. According to local news reports, San Ramon police have said that evidence suggests the pair had plans to run away from home.

Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, the school confirmed that the missing students attended the school. The school said they were in touch with both the families and the San Ramon Police Department and were offering all support needed to locate the girls.

Additionally, volunteers from the community are assisting the police with their investigation and are conducting their independent search as well. They are giving updates on the Facebook page titled Search-Mina-Ruby and are connecting with the community.
