Indian American Global Business Leader Balkrishan ‘BK’ Kalra Named CEO and President of Genpact
- The Indian American who is part of the seed team that founded the New York-headquartered global professional services firm, joined the firm in 1999 and has held various positions since then.
Global professional services firm Genpact has named Balkrishan “BK” Kalra as its president and chief executive officer, effective Feb. 9, the company announced last week. The Indian American who is part of the seed team that founded Genpact, joined the New York-headquartered company in 1999 and has held various positions since then. He is currently a global business leader in financial services and consumer and healthcare. He replaces current CEO and president NV (Tiger) Tyagarajan, who’s retiring after over 12 years at the helm. He has served as CEO since 2011, and will continue to serve as a member of the board of directors of the company after he retires, the company said in a press release.
In a LinkedIn post, Kalra wrote he’s “honored and excited to be named the next president and CEO of Genpact, his “home for nearly my entire career.” He sees “tremendous opportunity to continue building upon Genpact’s storied reputation, helping our clients transform as the world transforms around us, focusing our efforts on leveraging advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions,” he further wrote. Additionally, in a company statement, he said he looks forward “to working closely with the Board and our leadership team to accelerate a new chapter of growth for Genpact, one with technology at the forefront of everything we do to unlock tremendous potential for our clients, employees, and shareholders alike.”
According to James Madden, chairman of Genpact’s board of directors, Kalra “understands the importance of investing in emerging trends and technologies with a particular focus on Genpact’s efforts around advanced analytics and AI-enabled solutions. BK’s strategic vision and deep understanding of our clients and business is exactly what Genpact needs as we enter this new chapter.”
Before joining Genpact, Kalra worked in investment banking and private equity. BK brings to Genpact more than 25 years of management and leadership experience in finance, banking, technology, operations, and business process management.
