Humor on Highway: Hasan Minhaj to Bring Suburban Dad Energy to Navigation App Waze

  • The Indian American comedian, actor, writer, and producer will be the newest personal navigator.

Waze, the Google-owned traffic and navigation app, has partnered with Hasan Minhaj, the company announced on May 17. The Indian American comedian, actor, writer, and producer will be “the newest personal navigator, entertaining users with relatable commentary on traffic, self-deprecating jokes and other funny insights about driving,” the company said.

In a statement, Minhaj said he’s “excited to be partnering with Waze as your personal navigator in my new driving experience.” Noting that “the car is where I come up with some of my best content,” he said he thinks “everyone can relate to the absurdities of driving and I love the opportunity to bring some humor to everyone on the roads.”

The company promises “relatable commentary on everything from traffic to rest stops and some self-deprecation thrown in for good measure,” adding that “when traffic gets you down,” Minhaj will “have your back with some relatable rants.” Some of those include “Hazard reported ahead. Maybe someone’s ‘Check Engine’ light is on. I hate that light. It says ‘Hey, so that thing with ten thousand parts inside it? One of them is broken but we can’t say which’” or upon arrival, Hasan will quip ‘We made it. And if no one’s looking, I think you should high-five the screen!’”
