Former Chief Financial Officer of Stripe Dhivya Suryadevara Joins Optum Financial as CEO

  • The Indian American was on a break since stepping down as CFO of Stripe in February 2023.

Former Stripe CFO Dhivya Suryadevara has joined Optum Financial as chief executive officer. The subsidiary of insurance giant UnitedHealth Group (UGH)  “handled more than $500 billion” in payments last year.

In a LinkedIn post, the Chennai-born Suryadevara said she’s I’m incredibly honored to have the opportunity to work alongside so many people who are so fiercely determined to make health care better for everyone.” While “UGH is in a unique position to transform our health system, with a mission to help people live healthier lives and help the health system work better for everyone, “this is not an easy task,” she added. “UGH has the capabilities and the people to make real progress.”

She was on a break since last February when stepped down as the chief financial officer of Stripe, a global technology company building economic infrastructure for the internet due to family matters. She joined Stripe in 2020 from General Motors, where she made history by becoming the first female CFO of a multinational automotive manufacturing company.  

Before her role as CFO in 2018, Suryadevara worked as the vice president of Corporate Finance at GM in 2017 and was responsible for corporate financial planning and investor relations.
