‘Went and Got the Law Involved’: FBI Director Kash Patel, 46, Is Engaged to Country Singer Alexis Wilkins, 27

  • The son of Indian immigrants from Uganda who became the first Indian American FBI director announced his engagement Sunday — a personal milestone that arrives amid ongoing scrutiny of how the relationship has intersected with his use of federal resources.

On Sunday, October 4, 2026, Alexis Wilkins posted a photograph on her social media accounts. The image showed her and Kash Patel, smiling, with an engagement ring visible on her finger. Her caption was six words.

“Went and got the law involved,” she wrote.

Patel — the 46-year-old FBI director and the first person of Indian descent to hold that office — shared the same announcement on his own social media account.

Three Years, Nashville, and a Bhagavad Gita

The couple’s relationship began in 2023 — approximately two years before Patel was confirmed by the Senate as FBI director in February 2025 — and has unfolded largely in public view, though neither Patel nor Wilkins has been extensively forthcoming about its personal dimensions.

They met at an event at singer John Rich’s house in Nashville, Tennessee, as Patel and Wilkins said themselves on a December 2025 episode of “The Katie Miller Podcast.“

“When I met him, I just liked that he was so, so honest. He’s exactly who he is all the time,” Wilkins said of Patel.

When Patel was sworn in as FBI director in February 2025, Wilkins was present at the ceremony. Attorney General Pam Bondi swore in Patel as Wilkins held the Bhagavad Gita — the Hindu scripture that serves as one of the central texts of the Vaishnavite tradition in which Patel was raised. The image of Wilkins holding the Bhagavad Gita as her now-fiancé took the oath of the nation’s top law enforcement officer became one of the more striking ceremonial photographs of the early Trump second term.

Who Is Alexis Wilkins?

Alexis Wilkins, 27, is a country music singer and actress who holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Belmont University in Nashville — one of the country music industry’s most prominent feeder institutions, according to Wikipedia. On her LinkedIn page, she describes herself as a country music artist and performer, among other things.

Her public profile before her relationship with Patel was that of an emerging Nashville country artist — not yet a household name, but an active performer navigating the competitive lower rungs of a difficult industry. The relationship with Patel, and the specific circumstances under which it became public knowledge, changed the nature of that profile considerably.

The Controversies: A Security Detail, a Government Jet, and a Response to Conspiracy Theories

The engagement announcement arrives after a year in which Wilkins’s proximity to Patel’s official functions generated sustained media scrutiny and formal congressional attention.

In November 2025, Forbes reported that Wilkins had been assigned an FBI security detail — a level of protection not typically extended to the romantic partners of FBI directors.

Patel’s use of government aircraft to visit Wilkins also drew congressional attention. House Judiciary Committee Democrats sent Patel a letter in December 2025 accusing him of using government aircraft for personal trips, including an overnight visit to Pennsylvania to watch Wilkins perform at a wrestling event. Patel defended those travel decisions, stating on “The Katie Miller Podcast” that he would not treat Wilkins differently because of his position.

In December 2025, the New York Post reported that Wilkins had “slapped down bizarre conspiracies” that she was a Mossad agent — a fringe theory that had circulated in some online communities.

The New York Times, in a February 28, 2026 report titled “Kash Patel’s Girlfriend Seeks Fame and Fortune, Escorted by an F.B.I. SWAT Team,” provided the most extensive mainstream media account of how the relationship had shaped Patel’s official conduct and his fiancée’s access to federal resources. Patel has consistently defended the relationship and its intersection with his official role.

Kashyap “Kash” Pramod Patel, 46, was born on February 25, 1980 — the son of Indian immigrants who fled Uganda in 1972 when the dictatorship of Idi Amin expelled the country’s South Asian community. His father is a Gujarati Indian who was among those expelled. The family eventually settled in the United States, and Patel grew up in the New York area.

He attended the University of Rochester for his undergraduate degree and earned his law degree from Pace University School of Law. He worked as a public defender and then as a federal prosecutor before moving to Capitol Hill as a senior aide to then-House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, where he became the primary author of the Nunes memo — the document alleging FBI abuses during the investigation into links between Trump associates and Russia that defined his public profile before his appointment to the FBI.

He was confirmed as the first person of Indian descent to serve as FBI director in February 2025. His tenure has been among the most scrutinized in the bureau’s history — marked by the firing of more than 100 immigration judges, a report by The Atlantic alleging alcohol-related performance concerns that Patel strongly denied, and persistent questions about political direction from the administration.

None of that was mentioned in the engagement announcement. Wilkins’s six-word caption was about something else entirely.

The Wedding: Venue TBD

No wedding date has been publicly announced. No venue has been confirmed.

TMZ, with characteristic concision, noted that Patel “wouldn’t want to disappoint his boss, President Donald Trump, so you know whatever venue Kash and Alexis choose will be pretty darn sweet.”
