Netflix Reality Show Stars Irina and Dhruv Piplani List Swanky NYC Apartment for $5.25 million
- The Indian American investor and his interior designer Russian wife were featured in the second season of the Netflix reality series “The Big Day.”
Indian American investor Dhruv Piplani and his wife Irina are reportedly selling their swanky New York apartment for $5.25 million. The Indian-Russian couple became famous after they were featured in the second season of the Netflix reality series “The Big Day,” which chronicled the stories of six modern-day engaged couples who wanted to get married in a lavish ceremony.
Irina is an interior designer, while investor Piplani became a partner at Goldman Sachs when he was just 29. He is the former chairman of Polaris Investments in Hong Kong.
The New York Post reported that the Piplanis bought the seventh-floor loft in the city’s Tribeca neighborhood for $5.26 million in December 2020 during the lockdown. The apartment is back on the market after it was listed at a loss of $5.17 million last year, the Post report said.
Irina and Dhruv met through mutual friends at a party in New York. There weren’t major sparks at first. However, after Dhruv returned to Hong Kong for work, “their friendship turned into long phone conversations over a 12-hour time difference and eventually, a strong relationship,” as mentioned in the Vogue, which featured their wedding as well. “It was great for our relationship to discover how we grew up, learn about cultures and the generalizations that now laugh over, celebrate and enjoy,” said Dhruv to Vogue on how both the first-generation Americans are strongly connected to their cultural roots.
As shown in the Netflix series, they tied the knot after dating for a bit in a big fat Indian wedding with over five grand functions at two separate palaces in Jaipur. The ceremonies kicked off with a vibrant mehendi at the landmark Samode Palace; followed by a daytime courtyard haldi ceremony, a Bollywood-style sangeet, the traditional Hindu wedding ceremony set against the palatial backdrop of Rambagh Palace and a reception.
