Bollywood’s Reigning Queen Alia Bhatt Signs With American Talent Agency
- With an array of films in her kitty, the Hindi film actress is eyeing to make a mark in Hollywood.
First, it was Priyanka Chopra, and now it’s Bollywood’s latest sweetheart Alia Bhatt who is eyeing making a mark in Hollywood. After launching her production house, Eternal Sunshine Productions, the star who took Bollywood by storm in her debut film – “Student of the Year” – has signed American talent agency William Morris Endeavour (WME) in the hopes of getting projects in Hollywood. According to a report in Deadline, “the most bankable actress in Bollywood today” has signed with the agency as she “eyes opportunities in the U.S.”
Bhatt, one of the reigning queens in Bollywood today, has an array of films in her kitty. According to media reports, she is currently busy with the shoot of her next film “Darlings”, which also marks her first production venture. The film, which is co-produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, also stars Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, and Roshan Mathew and is said to be a story of a mother-daughter duo.
On July 6, Karan Johar announced his next project, “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani”, with Bhatt and her “Gully Boy” co-star Ranveer Singh, a love story with a twist. Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan also have pivotal roles in the film.
Apart from this, Alia Bhatt is awaiting the release of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” scheduled to release on July 30. She also has the release of Ayan Mukerji&’s “Brahmastra” with boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan to look forward to.
And if that wasn’t enough to keep this actor busy, Bhatt will also be seen in Karan Johar’s ambitious project “Takht” alongside Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar. And in Tollywood, Bhatt has “RRR”, directed by SS Rajamouli of “Baahubali” fame, which also stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR with Ajay Devgn.
Bhatt, the daughter of Bollywood filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and actress Soni Razdan, has several Best Actress awards to her credit in her short but impressive career spanning nine years.
Formed in 1898, William Morris Agency is the longest-running talent agency that manages sports, media, events, and fashion. It also managed “Slumdog Millionaire” actress Freida Pinto. In 2019, it was named Agency of the Year at the Billboard Live Music Awards. WME represents international stars like Gal Gadot, Emma Stone, Oprah, and Charlize Theron, among others.
