Rena Haley did not wait for the possibility of a White House wedding. The daughter of Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley got married to her college sweetheart Joshua Jackson on April 15 at Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. News reports said it was a lavish wedding.
A very happy mom who took a break from her campaign to celebrate her daughter’s wedding. “We had the sweetest weekend celebrating Rena and Josh. Thankful for our sweet family and friends who joined us in supporting and celebrating them. Rena and Josh, we could not be more proud of both of you,” she wrote on social media sites along with a photo with her husband and the newly married couple.
“As parents you pray your children will find that special someone to go through life with,” the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations wrote. “The day is here and we couldn’t be more excited for our daughter and future son. As we start this special day, our hearts are full knowing this is the day the Lord has made…”
“Rena Haley’s wedding dress featured a mermaid silhouette with a deep neckline and side cutouts, while Nikki Haley wore a cream one-shoulder gown with decorative draping along one side. Jackson wore a navy tuxedo with black lapels, as did Haley’s husband, Michael, and son, Nalin,” an Insider report said.
Rena Haley majored in nursing and minored in psychology at Clemson University, according to her LinkedIn profile. She works as a pediatric nurse in South Carolina, while Jackson played wide receiver on the former Clemson football team. He currently works as a middle school Mathematics teacher at Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, South Carolina. The two were engaged in July last year.
Her daughter’s wedding may have come as a happy distraction from her campaign which has been in the news recently for inflating the money it raised in the first quarter of the year. “Her campaign said she had raised $11 million in the opening six weeks of her bid for the Republican presidential nomination. But the real figure appears to be about $8.3 million,” the New York Times reported.
Haley’s campaign appears to have double-counted money routed among Haley’s fundraising committees, overstating the topline figure, CNN reported.
In contrast, her main rival former president Donald Trump raised an impressive $18.8 million in the first quarter, his campaign has said.
