Mindy Kaling Pokes Fun at Biden, His Donors, and Reveals the Real Reason for Supporting the President

  • The Indian American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer, emceed the fundraiser — An Evening with the Presidents — at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Last night’s fundraiser for President Biden at New York City’s Radio City Music Hall has been making headlines for the star-studded guests — Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton — and for the $26 million raised. The glittering fundraiser — “An Evening with the Presidents” — was emceed by Mindy Kaling. The evening also included performances by Queen Latifah, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, and Lea Michele, as well as a conversation with Biden, Obama, and Clinton, moderated by late-night host and comedian Stephen Colbert.

New reports, Reuters White House reporter Jarrett Renshaw and a few others shared some of Kaling’s remarks and jokes as well as videos and photos of her.

Kaling began her bit by making fun of the president and the donors. “When I say Mr. President, three people will answer!”

“This is such a big night,” Kaling said, according to The New York Post. “It is such an honor to be in this room with so many rich people,” she continued,  adding that she loved they were supporting a president who “openly” promises to “raise your taxes.” Noting that “people are paying up to $500,000 to be here tonight,” she remarked, “for that kind of money at an RNC fundraiser, you get to be secretary of state.”

Kaling also poked fun at Biden’s age. She’s “getting older,” she said, “but compared to Biden, Obama, and Clinton, she looks like a cast member on Euphoria.”

The mother of two — Spencer, 3, and Katherine “Kit,” 5 — told the gathering that her kids are the reason she’s supporting Biden’s reelection campaign. It’s “”not just because I want them to have reproductive rights and drinkable,” she said, but for “a true story,” which she shared with the audience. She recalled an incident when her daughter Katherine was two years old. “She saw [Vice President] Kamala Harris on TV, and she thought it was me,” Kaling said. “I have never felt so hot or that my daughter was being a little bit racist … it’s fine,” she joked.
