Actor and Rapper Utkarsh Ambudkar Joins Ravi Kapoor’s Film ‘Four Samosas’ as Executive Producer

  • Starring Venk Potula in the lead, the film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 10.

Indian American actor and rapper Utkarsh Ambudkar has come on board Ravi Kapoor’s indie film “Four Samosas” as an executive producer. The film, written and directed by Kapoor, centers on a wannabe rapper in Los Angeles Little India, “who concocts a backwards plan to disrupt his ex-girlfriend’s wedding by stealing her wedding diamonds,” as reported by Deadline. It will have its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival in New York on June 10, as part of its US Narrative Competition.

Venk Potula leads the cast, along with Karan Soni, Sonal Shah, Sharmita Bhattacharya, Nirvan Patnaik, Summer Bishil, Meera Simhan, Sujata Day, Samrat Chakrabarti and Tony Mirrcandani. It is produced by Kapoor alongside Potula for Khrisp Entertainment, and Rajiv Maikhuri and Craig Stovel for Creative Rebel Productions. Marginal MediaWorks’ Sanjay Sharma and Milan Chakraborty are additional executive producers.

“We’re thrilled for UTK to be joining our producing team,” said Kapoor. “He’s one of a new generation of South Asian luminaries and his breadth of work from stage to screen to music, coupled with his passion for elevating others, will lend us invaluable support as we bring “Four Samosas” to market.”

Ambudkar, who stars as Jay on CBS’ breakout comedy “Ghosts,” told Variety that he’s been “watching and supporting Venk grow as an actor for years.” So when he and Kapoor shared an early cut of the film with him, he said he’ll do “anything I can to help shine a light on the project. I’m so excited for audiences to see this entirely original and earnest comedy.”
