Indian American Teen Shay Shah Returns Home in Edison, New Jersey, Almost a Week After He Went Missing

New Jersey Shyalan “Shay” Shah has been found. The Indian American was missing from his Edison, New Jersey, home since July 15 morning. “We are extremely happy to report Shay has returned home safe and sound,” read a  Facebook post from his father Rich Shah, which is being shared extensively. “Thank you to everyone who has helped us over the last 1 week in the search. Your support, love and prayers for our family has been incredible.” He also shared a family photo. 

No other details about Shay’s disappearance or his returning home are available at this time. 

In an earlier post, the family said Shay was was spotted at the Newark train station. They said they were working with NJ Transit police to trace him. “Every day, we go to sleep and wake up thinking of you, son,” read a post from Rich Shah earlier this morning. “Our hearts have a hole, and our eyes are flooded with tears, not knowing your whereabouts.  Shay, we always have and always be your cheerleader.   Wherever you are in this world, we are rooting for you, baby.”

A nixle alert from the Edison Police Department described Shay as “a 19-year-old Indian male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 140 lbs, black hair, and brown eyes” He was last seen “in the area of Linda Lane & Westgate Drive in Edison,” the alert said, adding that he “left the area on foot.” The Shahs used to live in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and currently live in Edison.
