Indian American Golfer Akshay Bhatia is Engaged to Girlfriend Presleigh Schultz

  • A few months after they met, she caddied for him when he won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in his first Korn Ferry Tour start as a member.

Indian American golfer Akshay Bhatia is engaged to his girlfriend Presleigh Schultz. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram. Bhatia, 21, has been in a relationship with Schultz since the two met online in April  2021. It was before the Valero Texas Open when he messaged her on Instagram and the pair hit it off.

She however didn’t have an idea about the sport he played. In January 2022, she caddied for him when he won the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in his first Korn Ferry Tour start as a member. “To win Bahamas with her was very special.”

Eighteen months later, Bhatia became a PGA Tour champion. He was visibly choked up when asked about Presleigh’s role when he won his maiden PGA Tour title at the Barracuda Championship earlier this season. “She’s been through it all with me… you know I couldn’t imagine my life without her. I couldn’t imagine being on this journey without her by my side… she’s a huge part of this win.”

He won his maiden PGA Tour title in July at the Barracuda Championship in California by defeating Patrick Rodgers. The win, which earned him full Tour status and a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs, came nearly four years after the 21-year-old turned professional. The Barracuda was Bhatia’s 18th start of the season and 35th career as a professional on the PGA Tour.
