Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, former Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have tapped Indian American Nishika Kumble to serve as senior vice president for scripted television for their Netflix-based production company, Archewell Productions. Variety says that in her new role, âKumble will work closely with Netflix to create and develop new scripted fare from diverse voices that informs, elevates and inspires.â She will report to former FilmNation production president Ben Browning, who joined Archewell in March as head of content.
Before joining Archewell, Kumble served as VP Development and Production at Rashida Jones and Will McCormackâs Le Train Train Productions. During her tenure there, she oversaw the companyâs TV slate, working on shows including AMCâs âKevin Can F*** Himselfâ and âQuibiâs Centerpiece.â
Before that, she was director of development at Noah Hawleyâs FX-based production company 26 Keys, where she worked on Fargo and Legion. Additionally, she has worked at Entertainment One in the indie studioâs scripted TV departments and powerful narratives.
According to its website, Archewell Productions was founded by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020 âto produce programming that uplifts and entertains audiences around the world by embracing our shared humanity and building community through similar experiences, powerful narratives, and universal value.â
The companyâs first two announced projects with the streaming giant are âHeart of Invictus,â a docu-series which centers around the Invictus Games, and will be executive produced by Prince Harry, and âPearl,â which will be an animated children’s series, executive produced by Markle.
