Indian American Ravi Ahuja Named CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment
- A company veteran, he currently serves as chairman of Global Television Studios and president and chief operating officer, overseeing day-to-day operations and mergers and acquisitions.
Ravi Ahuja will take over as the CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) effective Jan. 2, 2025. A company veteran, the Indian American succeeds Tony Vinciquerra, who will remain with next year. Ahuja currently serves as chairman of Global Television Studios and president snd chief operating officer, overseeing day-to-day operations alongside Vinciquerra.
In that role, he leads Sony Pictures Televisionâs U.S. and international productions, nonfiction, kids and game shows divisions, and the studioâs India business, his Sony profile says. Additionally he oversees Sony Pictures Entertainmentâs (SPE) Corporate Development and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) activities. This includes the acquisitions of non-fiction entertainment company Industrial Media, the UK’s production company Bad Wolf and VFX company Pixomondo, among others.
Since joining Sony Pictures in March 2021, Ahuja has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth, managing all production businesses for Sony Pictures Television, which include U.S and international productions, as well as divisions focused on nonfiction, kids programming, and game shows.
Before joining Sony in March 2021, he was president of Business Operations and CFO of Walt Disney Television. âHe played a central role in merging Disney/ABC Television and Fox Networks following Disneyâs acquisition of Fox in early 2019,â his profile said.
Prior to his time at Disney, he served as CFO of the Fox Networks Group, where he oversaw finance, strategy and business development for all its business units: Twentieth Century Fox Television, Fox Broadcasting, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports, National Geographic and Fox Networks Europe and Africa, Latin America and Asia. In his 12 years at Fox, he formulated and executed on the companyâs growth initiatives, including those in streaming and new technology. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Roku, Inc.
Before joining Fox in 2007, he served as CFO for Virgin Entertainment Group, Inc. Prior to that, he worked at McKinsey & Company and in investment banking.
He has undergraduate and MBA degrees from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is also part of the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board.
