World’s Largest Crypto Trading Platform Binance Appoints 2 Indian Americans to Senior Positions
- Rohit Wad was named the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, while Mayur Kamat was made its head of product.
Binance, one of the world’s largest crypto trading platforms, recently announced the appointment of two Indian Americans in senior roles. Rohit Wad, the former corporate vice president at Microsoft was named the company’s new Chief Technology Officer, and Mayur Kamat, the former Product Manager at Google is its head of product.
Wad will work on the expansion of the company’s products and services. In addition, the newly appointed CTO is planning to facilitate the development of scalable, secure and fast Web3 solutions. With a strong presence in the global technology sector. Wad has worked with prominent names like Microsoft, Google and Facebook.
In a blog on Binance’s website, Wad said he was “incredibly excited to move from one revolution to another.” Noting that he has an accomplished career in Web2, the blog said: “Before the days of YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram, Rohit worked on early Microsoft projects like Excel and Sharepoint, which are still used today.”
He helped grow Facebook’s Seattle office from around 100 engineers to over 1000 in four years. At Google, he spearheaded a startup team of ten engineers to build a product that enabled people to compare and find the right home mortgages. As Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, he oversaw product and engineering for consumer communications: Skype, Groupme, and Microsoft Teams.
Kamat previously served as the vice president of product at Agoda where he was in charge of the company’s supply, finance and marketplace products. Prior to that, he led product teams at Hiya and Google.
He was behind the product team that developed Gmail for mobile, Android for Work, Hangouts, Google Voice, and Windows DRM. In his new position at Binance, he is planning to build a diverse set of products to assist users.
